Wait on the Lord – 3

God has made a wonderful provision for us – he offers us his strength in exchange for our weakness.  How is this possible?  First of all we need to believe he will do this for us.  In Isaiah 40:28-29 it says, “Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”

This amazing God promises to give strength to those who are weary and weak.  How can we receive this strength?  In verse 31 we discover the answer.

“But those who wait on / hope for the
Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles …”

Many of us are more like chickens!  But God wants us to be eagles.  In fact God describes himself as an eagle when he told the Children of Israel that he carried them on his wings.  Did you know that the wingspan of an eagle can be up to 7 feet?  An eagle can soar high into the sky and dive to the ground at 241 kilometers an hour.  God is saying to us, “I know there will be times of weakness, but if you wait on me, your weakness will be exchanged for my strength, so you will be able to soar into the heavens.”
