The other day I was working on a jigsaw puzzle wtih my grandson. “Let’s begin with the corner piece,” I suggested. Gradually the picture took shape, but it looked as if one piece was missing. Finally we found it hidden under a chair.
God has an amazing plan for man – a plan of redemption, that is built around his Son, Jesus Christ.
He is just like the corner piece in the jigsaw. In fact the Bible describes Jesus as the cornerstone. Little by little, the pieces are being added, and one day soon it will be complete, with none missing. We are like those pieces, or the living stones that make up the building. Each one is important. God wants us to know that.
The apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:4-5,
‘For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.’
However you may say, “Who am I? I am hardly significant.” Maybe you are older now and feel you have been set aside or think you can’t do much. Imagine one piece of jigsaw missing – only one! Perhaps it is just part of the background color, but if it is missing, the picture is incomplete. You are important to your Heavenly Father – he had you in mind before he created the world. Incredible! Thank him today. Your life has purpose – in him.
